Attendance Allowance

Attendance Allowance is a benefit for people over the age of 65 who need extra help with the costs of their personal ‘care’ needs. You must have had these needs for at least six months. There are special rules for terminally ill claimants.

To get Attendance Allowance, having a diagnosis for a medical condition will not by itself automatically qualify you; you must also have personal care needs. However, you do not have to be already receiving help for your care needs in order to qualify; what matters is that the need is there.
