Why apply for Shine’s STAR School Award?

Hydrocephalus and spina bifida are lifelong conditions that can affect a child’s school life in many ways. From physical changes that can make moving around more difficult, to less visible impacts on learning or behaviour, each child living with hydrocephalus and/or spina bifida is unique, with their own strengths and challenges.

Understanding these strengths and challenges is key to ensuring children make the most of those crucial school years, and truly thrive.

Using our knowledge and expertise, accompanied by our vast library of resources and information, our Education team works with teachers, parents and children to ensure the best possible support is offered to children, addressing their changing needs at different stages of their education.
